Cogeneration units
combined production
of electricity and heat
Highly efficient and energy-effective solution that delivers measurable profits.
Produce electricity, heat, and cooling with a single device while using less fuel.
What is cogeneration?
Cogeneration is a technology that allows simultaneous generation of two types of energy – electricity and heat.
A cogeneration unit uses much less fuel than producing electricity and heat separately.
Cogeneration is one of the most efficient solutions and can also produce cooling or steam.

Read! What is the power of common units?
Small cogeneration units (up to 1 MW)
These are micro and small installations used in facilities such as hotels, hospitals, shopping centres, residential complexes, or small industrial plants.
Medium-power units (from 1 MW to 50 MW)
They are commonly used in larger industrial plants, municipal heating plants, and large commercial and business complexes.
Large units (above 50 MW)
These are installations operating in large CHP plants, providing electricity and heat for industry and entire cities.
How to choose a cogeneration unit? Refer to our detailed guide in our knowledge base
Learn moreWho is it for?
Cogeneration units are used across many industries and sectors, including non-industrial settings. They work particularly well in facilities with steady electricity and heat demand, such as:
- Food industry: companies that consume large amounts of heat and/or cooling in their production processes.
- Industry and processing: in operations involving drying, heating, synthesis, distillation, fermentation, etc.
- Heating plants and CHP plants aiming to reduce CO2 emissions and seeking a flexible power source with wide-range controllability.
- Hotels, swimming pools, and commercial buildings: where heat is used continuously, e.g., for heating rooms or water.
What is trigeneration?
Trigeneration is the combined production of electricity, heat, and cooling
During electricity production, heat is generated, which is recovered and then used in absorption chillers.
If your facility constantly consumes a and large amount of electrical, thermal, and cooling energy, this solution represents an effective option.
Cogeneration bonus
A cogeneration bonus is available for high-efficiency units, providing additional financial support for new or modernized units.
To learn more about the requirements and criteria for the cogeneration bonus, see our guide on this topic.
Cogeneration bonus – what it is and who can apply?Case study: cogeneration
At the Schumacher Packaging plant in Myszków, we successfully completed the second energy modernization, which significantly increased the factory's energy efficiency. Thanks to the introduction of a modern cogeneration installation, alongside several other projects, the plant is able to independently produce almost 9 MW of electricity in total, which covers about 80% of the facility's energy demand. The cogeneration installation was commissioned in September 2024, and its cost will be recovered in 3 years! This cogeneration unit is the largest LNG-powered cogeneration unit operating in southern Poland.
