Securing financing for ESCO projects – a new step in the development of energy efficiency services

We have signed a term sheet for the financing of projects implemented under the ESCO (Energy Saving Company) model. This is an important step toward scaling energy efficiency investments and decarbonizing industry in Poland.

New financing for DB Energy ESCO projects. Green light for further industrial investments

Thanks to the obtained financing – initially estimated at 15 million EUR – the company will gain access to external capital dedicated to implementing savings projects, such as modernization of technological installations, compressed air systems, pumping stations, LED lighting, or automation and heat recovery. Industrial clients, especially from energy-intensive sectors, will be able to benefit from solutions that improve energy efficiency without the need to commit their own investment funds.

Financing projects under the ESCO formula is a solution that addresses real industrial challenges – rising energy prices, the need for decarbonization, and limited investment budgets. Thanks to the obtained funds, we can implement solutions that generate savings and reduce emissions in a measurable way even faster.

The ESCO model assumes that DB Energy covers the investment costs, and the return comes from the achieved energy savings – thanks to guaranteed results. It is a solution that combines energy efficiency, CO2 emission reduction, and financial neutrality for manufacturing plants.

Signing the term sheet agreement is the first step toward finalizing the financing contract. As the company announces, these funds will be used in the upcoming quarters for projects with clients in the chemical, food, and metal industries.

What the ESCO model means for industry

The ESCO (Energy Saving Company) model assumes that the company providing energy efficiency services – in this case DB Energy – finances the investment from its own or external funds, and the cost is recouped from the generated savings. The client bears no investment or operational risk, while DB Energy guarantees achieving the agreed energy and financial results.

Typical areas of projects implemented under the ESCO model

Typical areas of projects implemented under this model include:

  • cogeneration and renewable energy installations (e.g., industrial PV),
  • modernization of compressed air systems, pumping stations, and ventilation,
  • heat recovery from technological processes,
  • automation of processes and energy management systems (EMS),
  • replacement of lighting with LED.

Effective model – proven implementations

DB Energy has experience in implementing ESCO-type projects in chemical, food, and metal plants, where annual energy savings of 15–35% were achieved. In some cases, investments were budget-neutral for the client from the first month – and guaranteed effects were confirmed by external measurement and online monitoring.

The obtained funds will allow for the implementation of further projects, whose total value – under a “project finance” model – may exceed 50 million PLN over the next two years.

Market context

The dynamic development of the energy efficiency services market – supported by rising energy costs, climate regulations, and ESG policies – makes the ESCO model increasingly important. Market analyses indicate that by 2030 the value of the energy services market in Europe could double.

At DB Energy, we consistently develop a portfolio of services including EED audits, energy engineering, project implementation, and energy management – now strengthened by access to external capital.
