DB Energy at POLAGRA FOOD 2024 – cogeneration and efficiency in the food industry

On 25–27 September 2024 in Poznań, the POLAGRA FOOD fair took place, bringing together food producers, technology suppliers, industry experts, and decision-makers from the food and HORECA sectors. Representatives of DB Energy – Dorota Jeżewska and Piotr Danielski – also attended to closely observe development trends affecting the future of energy efficiency in processing.

POLAGRA fair was divided into three main thematic halls:

• FOOD hall – showcasing new food products and consumer trends,
• FOODTECH hall – presenting technological lines and solutions optimizing production,
• HORECA hall – offering innovative tools and equipment for gastronomy.

Alongside the exhibitions, discussion panels, industry training, and accompanying events took place, such as the Baker's Forum "Healthy Bread" and the final of the "Master Baker" contest.

During the fair, the August issue of "Rzeźnik Polski" magazine was distributed, featuring a DB Energy article titled "Cogeneration – an efficient energy source for food processing plants".

In the expert text, we discussed how cogeneration installations – combining electricity and heat production – contribute to:

• improving energy efficiency,
• reducing CO₂ emissions,
• lowering operational costs of plants,
• increasing energy independence of food companies.

The presented implementation examples showed that well-designed cogeneration can be not only an ecological investment but also a real source of competitive advantage – especially in a sector with high demand for energy and process heat.
