DB Energy at the MEATing 2024 Congress – energy efficiency in meat industry
Today, the meat industry faces rising energy costs, decarbonization requirements, and the need to maintain uninterrupted cold chain operations. At the MEATing 2024 Congress, we discussed with industry representatives specific solutions that address these challenges.
Meeting of meat industry experts
On May 14–15, 2024, the MEATing Congress took place – one of the key events in the meat industry in Poland, organized by the Rzeźnik Polski magazine. This year's edition brought together over 2,400 participants and 450 companies, featuring expert presentations, discussion panels, and practical workshops.
Energy intensity of cooling and freezing – topic number one
As a sponsor of the Congress, DB Energy engaged in discussions on energy efficiency in meat processing – with a particular focus on cooling and freezing systems. These processes are among the most energy-intensive in processing plants and directly affect:
- food safety and continuity of the cold chain,
- operational costs of the facility,
- possibilities for waste energy recovery and efficiency improvement.
Practical approach and discussions on specific solutions
In conversations with Congress participants, we shared our experience in implementing solutions that optimize energy consumption in food processing plants – including:
- modernization of refrigeration systems,
- heat recovery from installations,
- use of variable-speed compressors,
- adiabatic cooling or chilled water systems,
- modern monitoring and energy management systems.
The Congress also covered the latest trends, such as cryogenic freezing or the use of dry ice – topics increasingly appearing in projects we analyze for meat and food industry clients.
Why we support the meat industry
Meat processing plants are among the largest energy consumers in the food sector – yet they have great potential for optimization. Our partnership with the MEATing Congress is part of a broader strategy to support energy-intensive industries in decarbonization, efficiency improvement, and enhancing competitiveness.
