Modernizacja instalacji oświetlenia LED w branży drzewnej

Modernization of the lighting system in a wood processing facility

DB Energy implemented a project to modernize the lighting system in a woodworking facility. The introduction of modern LED fixtures and a DALI control system significantly reduced electricity consumption, bringing tangible financial and environmental savings.

The challenge

The woodworking facility operated an outdated lighting system based on energy-intensive discharge lamps. The system generated high energy costs and did not provide adequate flexibility in managing light intensity. The goal of the investment was to increase the energy efficiency of the lighting and adapt it to the actual needs of the facility.

Our approach

DB Energy experts conducted an analysis of the technical condition of the existing system and the lighting usage profile in the facility. Based on this, a modernization project was developed, including the replacement of fixtures, optimization of their layout, and implementation of an intelligent DALI control system. Special attention was paid to integrating the new system with natural daylight and flexibly adjusting light intensity to different zones and production needs.

Replacement of energy-intensive discharge lamps with modern LED fixtures

The modernization included:

  • replacement of energy-intensive discharge lamps with modern LED fixtures,
  • reconfiguration of lighting layout in the halls,
  • implementation of a digital DALI control system, enabling light intensity adjustment and automatic adaptation to daylight conditions,
  • optimization of system operation parameters, thereby improving working comfort and reducing operating costs.

Results

The modernization of the lighting system resulted in:

  • electricity savings: 968 MWh per year,
  • cost reduction: 411 thousand PLN per year,
  • simple payback period: 1.2 years,
  • reduction of CO2 emissions: 740 tons per year.

The investment cost amounted to 512 thousand PLN.

Conclusions

Lighting modernization is one of the most cost-effective investments in energy efficiency for industry. The implementation of LED fixtures and a DALI control system not only allows for significant reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions, but also increases flexibility in lighting management and improves working conditions in production facilities.
